It has been a very nice week here in Korea: spring (and I would even dare to say early summer) has finally made its way here and is gifting us with stunning daily afternoon temperature of 25 celsius degrees and refreshing soft breezes. It is now time for friends and folks to enjoy nice walks in parks, eat yummy food and share happy memories around nice drinks while sitting in a restaurant’s terrace.
In Hyehwa, one nice place to eat yummy food with friends or family is Bongchu Jjimdak. The place is quite small but does have some tables and chairs outside for you to enjoy the weather on sunny and warm days.
BongChu JJimDak’s menu comes down to one single item: Jjim Dak, seasoned and simmered chicken, BongChu-style! The dish is a delicious mix of tender chicken, various vegetables such as spicy peppers, carrots, potatoes and zucchinis, and glass noodles.
Warning: it is a bit spicy, especially if you do not handle spices very well, as I do. So why am I still eating it? Simple: because it is downright delicious~!
If you end up loving it as much as I do, and no longer want to leave Hyehwa for fear of missing out on it, do not fret! Bongchu-Jjimdak is actually a franchise, with more than 150 stores nationwide and going strong since 2000!
If you are on your own or with friends but not to hungry, don’t cross it off your list quite yet! Most restaurants give you the possibility to order half a chicken!
So go and try out Jjimdak while you are in South Korea!
